Coventry City fans have accused the Ricoh Arena of being 'insensitive' after the venue's hailed June as a "landmark" month.

A statement on the stadium's website claimed it was a 'landmark' month for the venue after hosting two Spice Girls concerts and a Monster Jam event, with Bon Jovi also set to make their return to the stadium on Sunday, June 23.

The statement was a celebration of the fact that around 130,000 people will be visiting the venue across those three major events - pumping millions into the local economy.

In an accompanying statement, Justine Hewitt, head of operations at Ricoh Arena, is quoted as saying it was a 'memorable month'.

But the month of June has also seen Coventry City Football Club announce they will not be playing their home games at the Ricoh Arena following the ongoing dispute between stadium owners Wasps, City owners Sisu and Coventry City Council.

A tweet from the arena's official Twitter account hailing the 'landmark' month and pointing to the full statement attracted dozens of replies.
