Five people have been rescued from a taxi marooned in rising flood water in Rickerby Park in Carlisle.
At 12:29am today, Sunday 17 March four fire engines from Carlisle East, Carlisle West, Longtown and Penrith were mobilised to a taxi marooned in flood water on Brampton road, Carlisle.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighter Swift Water Rescue Technicians rescued five people from the vehicle using wading poles.
“All were given a precautionary check from ambulance paramedics.
“Crews were in attendance for approximately forty five minutes.”
