Thiruvananthapuram: Family-oriented lady police butchered, torched by colleague

Daijiworld Media Network - Thiruvananthapuram (SP)

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 16: A woman civil police officer working in Valliunnam station was killed with sharp weapon and then torched by an employee of her own department on Saturday June 15. The victim, Soumya Pushpakaran, was a resident of Vallikunnam.

The accused in the case has been identified as Ajaz.

Ajaz, who works as a traffic policeman attached to Aluva police station, was hospitalised with 40 percent burns. The police are yet to establish the motive of the crime. It is said that Ajaz, a bachelor, was training instructor for the deceased in the police academy at Thrissur in 2013.

Soumya had attended a camp for student police cadets at the government higher secondary school at Vattakkad. When she was returning home thereafter in the afternoon, she was knocked down, waylaid, hit repeatedly with a knife and then burnt alive after pouring petrol by the accused, who reportedly was following the lady in a car.

Soumya has left behind three children and husband, who works in a foreign country.

Vallikunnam police sub-inspector, Rajan Babu, said that the accused would be arrested immediately after he is discharged from the hospital. He added that the police personnel are probing the incident from all angles. District superintendent of police, K M Tomy, said that Ajaz, who lived at Kochi, was on leave since the last some days. He said that the police cannot confirm whether the two were in an affair as the department does not have any information about it as of now.

Soumya was a sincere and hard working family-oriented policewoman and was working in Vallikunnam station since the last three years. She was assigned duty as drill inspector for the student police at KKM government higher secondary school at Vallikunnam. When she was knocked down by Ajaz who followed her in his car, attacked her with a knife in the neck region and torched her, people who heard her wails, rushed there. But her condition was so bad that she had died on the spot by then. Although Ajaz tried to escape, the people caught hold of him and handed him over to the police.

First of all I pray Almighty God to grant an eternal peace to the departed soul and also extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family along with enough strength, energy, courage to sustain this irreparable loss.
Secondly, these types of murders, torches, happening frequently without any limitations only because our judiciary machinery do not have the guts, power to mete out severest of sever punishment to the culprits due to lots of loopholes in the judiciary system.Whether it is murder case or any other crimes, culprits know very well that even if they commit hundreds of hundred murders, robberies etc, they will be caught and put under bar and after few days they will get bail or order from the political parties to relieve them. After that they can roam without any fear of any police, anybody like a king and restart their earlier activities. This loophole of leniency in our judiciary system is the main reason for these kind of inhumane murder without any kind of mercy. In order to stop all these activities first of all judiciary system to be amended so as to give maximum punishment without any trial in the fast court.Otherwise it will go on without any break.

Very unfortunate and most disturbing part of this story is lady has 3 children and husband. Whatever the reason the culprit has to be given the sever punishment no less than death sentence.

Here the cruel murderer is caught red-handed and I hope the court won't ask for proof and hire a lawyer for his defence, In India everyday crime against women, is increased when the whole world is changing along with technology ... A strict punishment like "hanged till death, Squad shooting or lethal injection, getting this kind of punishment into our law system will only solve a crime against women.

In Indian judiciary system, nothing will happen or it may take decades to hearing.
The best thing can be done by public is:
as soon as he discharged from the hospital, he will be arrested by the police and produced in the court and naturally he will be grilled.
Now, the public or "Janatha" has to start the course:
immediately assign a lawyer to get him bail and keep ready the petrol in a can and pour on him and fire.
    Story finish.

In this case there is a solid witness to the crime and the case should not take more than one month for final court judgement. Either hang him to death or life imprisonment. But the court procedures may take years and years and finally he may be set free. This is what happens in the present day court proceedings.
