KAISER Chiefs will play in Southampton as part of a mammoth UK tour.

The run of dates includes the city’sO2 Guildhall on February 16.

The news follows the announcement that the Leeds five-piece have re-signed to Polydor/Universal. The band have also announced thatthey are back in the studio working on their seventh studio album with Ben Allen, the producer who worked on the band’s UK Number 1 album Education, Education, Education and War.

With their crowd-pleasing brand of indi pop-punk, the band went down a storm at this summer’s Victorious Festival in Portsmouth. They last played Southampton Guildhall in was February 2013.

Tickets for the 21 date tour will go go on general sale at 9am tomorrow.

Formed in Leeds in 2000, Kaiser Chiefs are one of the leading bands of their generation. Fronted by the charismatic Ricky Wilson with Simon Rix on bass, Andrew ‘Whitey’ White on guitar, Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines on keyboards and drummer Vijay Mistry, the band have had a string of anthemic hits such as Oh My God, I Predict A Riot, Everyday I Love You Less and Less, Never Miss A Beat and Ruby.

The band have released six original studio albums which includes their Mercury nominated debut, Employment which sold over two million copies..
