THEY have just celebrated hitting the high notes for 120 years.
These pictures were taken on November 2, 1998, when Fareham Philharmonic Choir was preparing to mark its centenary with a special concert.
Around 90 singers gathered at St Peter and Paul church to perform Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise, the very first piece their predecessors performed at the same church in 1898.
The group were founded by Captain Eugene Spinney and evolved from a gang of music-loving friends.
They began by staging local events which soon became a regular concert programme with the accompanying Fareham Philharmonic Orchestra.
