A MAN has been found dead at a home in Southampton after an incident involving chemicals.

Fire crews and police were called to the scene in Honeysuckle Road on February 14 at around 8:30pm.

Crews from St Marys Fire station and specialist vehicles attended the scene.

Police confirmed that a man's body was found at a home in the street.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "A potentially hazardous substance was also found at the scene. Colleagues from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service made the area safe.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner."

Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: "It was a chemical incident which was handed over to the police."

Fire crews used two lots of breathing apparatus and they left the scene at around 11pm.

A resident who has lived in the road for ten years said: "There were lots of emergency service vehicles and police cornered off a property in the middle of the road between Tulip and Aster Road.

"I didn't hear anything until the fire-engines and police cars arrived.

"It was quite worrying as there are a lot of us who live here who have kids."
