A MAN who kicked a pregnant woman in the stomach has been jailed.
Darren Steven Hampton carried out the attack on the pregnant woman in Southampton on December 10 last year.
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, the 38-year-old pleaded guilty to one charge of assault by beating, after initially pleading not guilty.
He was jailed for 23 weeks by magistrates, who deemed the offence as "so serious" due to kick being to the stomach of a pregnant and vulnerable woman.
Hampton, of Mascot Meadows, Hedge End, was told the sentence will run consecutively to another sentence, which he is currently serving for a separate offence.
