CARJACKERS stabbed a man in the neck and attacked a teenager before stealing a vehicle in Southampton last night.

Officers were called to Varna Road just before 9pm last night after two men were attacked in the street.

A red Honda Jazz was approached by a group of three to four males.

The suspects attacked the two men - a man in his 40s and a man in his late-teens - inside the car before the two victims ran from the vehicle towards Millbrook Road West.

The suspects then drove off in the stolen car.

The car has since been recovered.

An eyewitness, who has asked not to be named, told the Daily Echo: "I heard loads of commotion outside my flat and I went to go and have a look.

"I saw two men running towards a car and they pulled a man out of the car while they were stabbing him.

"They stabbed him four times and he ran down the road holding his face.

"Then the two people got in the car and drove off."

She added: "I have two kids, I feel scared this happened on my doorstep."

The resident added that police closed off the road from both ends and left the scene at around 2.40pm today.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment for a stab wound to his neck. He has since been discharged from hospital.

The passenger, a man in his late teens, sustained minor scratches to his neck and back and did not require hospital treatment.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 38 year old man, a 30 year old female and a 22 year old female, all from Southampton, currently remain in custody.

nspector Nick Marsden said: “I would like to reassure the community that this is a very isolated incident. Officers will be in the area patrolling and conducting enquiries.
