A SOUTHAMPTON advice group is thanking its army of volunteers following its support to over 1,500 clients since March.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 50 volunteers have helped Citizens Advice Southampton deal with issues exacerbated by the outbreak, together with a team of around 20 permanent staff.
Enquiries relating to employment, Universal Credit and immigration have all seen noticeable increases and, according to the group, without volunteers the service would have struggled to meet the demands of users.
As part of Volunteers’ Week, which runs from June 1 to 7, Citizens Advice Southampton is shining a light on some of the individuals that have made and continue to make a meaningful difference through their contributions to the service.
Liz Donegan, Chief Officer, Citizens Advice Southampton, said: “Our wonderful volunteers contribute their time and energy throughout the year and really are the lifeblood of our service, making a huge difference to people’s lives in Southampton and the surrounding area."
