  • After being put on medication she was sent home and saw her eldest daughters Chloe, seven, and Tenley, two for the first time in three months
  • But just minutes later the blood clot returned and she passed away as husband Joey rushed her back to hospital
  • Today he has described her final moments with her daughters, saying: 'It was the happiest I'd ever seen her'

A distraught husband whose wife died after giving birth to triplets has described her final moments with her two eldest daughters, saying: 'That was the happiest I've ever seen her.'

Joey Rott, from Kansas, said wife Casi was overjoyed to be back at home with her two eldest children Chloe, seven, and Tenley, two, having been away for three months during her pregnancy.

Rott, 33, described the moment Casi arrived home and embraced her daughters in the driveway of their farmhouse home just hours before suffering the blood clot that would kill her.

Since learning of the heartbreaking story, wellwishers have raised $85,000 for the couple online, while others have been to their house to offer prayers and drop off supplies.

Speaking to the Kansas City Star, Rott relived the tragic series of events that led up to Casi passing away on February 8.

Rott said that after Casi discovered she was carrying triplets, a high-risk pregnancy, she declined to take fertility drug to induce an early labor, and instead opted to carry the babies to 34 weeks.

Speaking to Inside Edition, he said: 'Nothing would get in her way of doing that, she'd do anything possible to do that. And that's exactly what she did.'

Back in November, as she started her third trimester, Casi temporarily moved from their rural home to Wichita, 117 miles away, in order to be close to medical help, should she need it.

On January 29 Casi prematurely gave birth to triplets Asher, Levi and Piper by C-section, and the new family were kept in hospital for observation.

According to Rott, Casi recovered quickly and by Monday was told she would be allowed to go home shortly, however on the Thursday of that week she began experiencing chest pains before leaving.

A large blood clot was discovered in her lung, which Rott said was almost certainly caused by the intense pregnancy and C-Section delivery.

While carrying the triples, Casi had described the experience to family and friends as 'the toughest thing she had ever done'.

Casi was put on blood thinning medication and, after further scans revealed no other clots, was allowed to go home four days later while the triplets remained in hospital.

Just before leaving, Casi was allowed to hold the triplet for the first - and what would also turn out to be the last time.

Joey said Casi's goal was to carry her babies to 34 weeks and make sure they were as healthy as possible
'She'll just be missed so much,' said Joey. 'Never in my life have I met a soul as kind as she was'

Excited to be back at home, Casi did laundry until Chloe and Tenley arrived home at 4pm for the happy reunion, along with her parents.

But only five minutes later Casi began experiencing severe chest pains again and the couple realized the clot had returned.

Rott said he rushed his wife to the car and drove as fast as he could to the nearest hospital, but she fell unconscious on the passenger seat next to him and never woke up.

Since then the triplets have returned home and Rott has been relying on a string of relatives, friends and carers to help him look after his five children.

Wellwishers have also rallied around online and raised more than $85,000 to support Rott, who is determined to stay in the house that he and Casi had planned as their forever home.

'She'll just be missed so much,' said Joey. 'Never in my life have I met a soul as kind as she was.'
