Railway bosses are blasted for celebrating route expansion with 'Lincolnshire sausages' made in Yorkshire

It seemed an innocuous way of celebrating an expansion of its rail service into and out of Lincoln.
But LNER has been criticised for introducing Lincolnshire sausages to its on-board menu – because they're made by butchers in Yorkshire.

A spokesman for Grantham-based Watkin butchers added: 'I don't see how LNER can call a Yorkshire sausage Lincolnshire.
'I'm sure it will be tasty but LNER could just call it a Yorkshire sausage.'
The rail firm insisted its recipe was for an authentic Lincolnshire sausage – with its unique blend of sage and white pepper – but admitted it was made by a Yorkshire contractor.
An application by the Lincolnshire Sausage Association to give Lincolnshire sausages protected status was turned down by the government in 2012.
