Martyn Glover is in the frame to become Southampton's new head of recruitment.

Glover has been working as Everton's chief scout since 2016 and was previously head of recruitment with Sunderland.

Prior to that the Bury-born former PE teacher worked at West Ham, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers where he was in charge of youth recruitment.

Southampton want a head of recruitment to work alongside director of football operations Ross Wilson and have interviewed a number of candidates.


Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger left the club by mutual consent after five years last week following on from the earlier departure of vice-chairman Les Reed, who became the Football Association's new technical director in December.

The Saints stand 16th in the Premier League table on 36 points with five games remaining.
