Fantasy Island's Lucy Hale realizes there is a dark side to paradise as her wildest dreams are turned into a real-life nightmare in first trailer for film
Be careful what you wish for on Fantasy Island.
In the first trailer for the movie reboot of the series, visitors are transported to a tropical paradise where they believe their wildest dreams are about to come true.
But they all are in for a rude awakening upon realizing the island has a dark side.

Lucy Hale, Maggie Q, Jimmy O. Yang, Ryan Hansen, and Austin Stowell play visitors at the enchanted island, where they are greeted by Mr. Roarke (Michael Pena) and his bubbly sidekick (Parisa Fitz-Henley).
Initially, all seems fine as they play around in paradise.
The guests party the night away at a wild beach side bash, and sleep in luxurious accommodations.
But it isn't long until they are all in for a rude awakening about the true intentions of the island.

Let's party! All initially seems fine to the guests, as they party the night away
'There is only one fantasy per guest,' Mr. Roarke informs the arrivals. 'And you must see your fantasy through, no matter what.'
Melanie (Lucy) ends up getting exactly what she asked for after revealing her fantasy would be to exact revenge on a childhood bully.
The young woman wanders into a room, where she sees her former bully (played by Portia Doubleday) tied up and bound to a chair.

Oh no: It dawns on Melanie that the woman is in fact her former bully
Initially, Melanie believes the woman in the chair is just an illusion.
'That is a really good hologram!' she says, clearly impressed.
But soon it becomes clear the woman is in fact her bully, sitting inside of a real-life torture chamber.
'Oh my God, that's really her,' Melanie says in shock, after watching liquid pour over her head.

Next, a man wearing a surgical mask walks in, unveiling a tray full of medical devices.
Desperate to end the torture, Melanie picks up a red phone and shouts, 'Roarke, this is not what I meant!'
The women manage to escape the chamber, but face major obstacles as they make their way across the island.

It doesn't take long for guests to find out something is horribly wrong with what initially seemed like heaven on earth.

Maggie Q's fantasy seemingly involved a deceased young girl from her past.
The woman was overwhelmed to see the child, walking on the beach, looking happy and healthy.

The host with the most: Mr. Roarke is played by Michael Pena
'They brought her back to life,' she told Mr. Roarke, in awe.
But as the island revealed it's true intentions, it all became clear to her.
'We weren't brought here to have our own fantasies,' she later remarks. 'We were brought here to be apart of something else.'

Fantasy Island is based on the series of the same name, which aired from 1977 to 1984 and starred Ricardo Montalbán as Mr. Roarke.
The series followed Mr. Roarke and his sidekick, Tattoo, as they made their guest's wildest dreams come to life. But there was always a drawback.
Fantasy Island will premiere on February 14, 2020.
