Chairman of Jharkhand State Haj Committee has appealed to pilgrims from Jharkhand to choose Ranchi as embarking point for Makkah instead of Kolkata adding that the ministry of minority affairs has assured that steps would be taken to even out the difference in the airfares between the two places.
Addressing media persons on Monday the chairman Rizwan Khan said the online filling of forms for Haj pilgrim for 2019 Haj has begun in October.
He informed that this time proportionately more people from Jharkhand are opting for Kolkata as the embarking point due to difference in airfare. According to last report the pilgrims had to pay around Rs 16,000 less while taking flight from Kolkata.
Khan stated he had met union minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas and requested that the airfare of Ranchi and Kolkatta should be equalized.
He added, “The minister has assured to take measures in this regard. A team of the State Haj Committee led by me will soon visit the national capital to ensure that the demand is fulfilled”.
Khan opined that after the assurance of the minister people filling up the form online from Jharkhand should opt for Ranchi, he stated.
Khan cautioned that Ranchi could be delisted as embarking point if the number of pilgrims filling up form from here is less that parameter set by the Haj Committee of India.
