‘Naya Raipur’ renamed ‘Nava Raipur’

Wednesday, 05 June 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

In a bid to give local touch to the name of Atal-Nagar Naya Raipur, the Chhattisgarh government  has rechristened it as Atal Nagar-Nava Raipur.

The government has replaced the Hindi word ‘Naya’ with ‘Nava’ in Chhattisgarh dialect. The name of late prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will continue to be associated with the name of the city as earlier. A formal approval to the name would be accorded after approval of it in caninet meeting.

Talking to media persons here after returning from his tour of Korba region, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel assured that the name of late prime minister will remain as it was and only the Hindi word ‘Naya’ will be changed to ‘Nava’ to give preference to local dialect.
