8 criminals held in Ranchi

Acting on a tip of Ranchi police have nabbed eight criminals involved in stealing electrical equipment and brass and copper materials from a colliery in Khalari area. 

Rural SP Ashutosh Shekhar informed on Thursday that arrested criminals were namely Ranjit Turi, Dhaneshwar Turi, Vikas Turi, Raju Turi, Kuldip Turi, Minhas Alam, Pannalal Alam and Badshah Raja. 

He said the raids were carried out at several places under Khelari and Piparwar police stations including Bahera, Bazaartand, Bachra colliery and the Hutap village to make the arrests. The raids were conducted after receiving information that the criminals had gathered in the Mohanpur area with the items stolen from Rai colliery in Khelari.

A bagful of brass and copper items including transformer wire apart from car, bike, four mobile phones and Rs 1.35 lakh were recovered from them. Police said three cases were registered against the accused persons with the Khalari police station area.  Ranjit Turi was also accused of committing theft in a mobile phone shop in Mohan Nagar under Khelari police station area in 2017.

The police team that conducted the raids was led by DSP Purushottam Singh.
