Saturday, 24 August 2019 | PNS | Chandigarh

The state bench of Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal will be set up in Hisar for speedy settlement of matters related to the tax regime, Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu said on Friday.

Earlier, the state government had sent its request to the central government for constitution of the bench in Hisar.  "The state bench of GST Appellate Tribunal will come up in Hisar," Capt Abhimanyu said in a statement.

There are nearly 4.5 lakh registered GST taxpayers in the state.

Last month, Abhimanyu had said that Haryana was making healthy contribution to the national kitty in GST collection. "Haryana has added a new record as despite having just 1.8 per cent of the geographical area of the country and 2.09 per cent of the national population, its contribution to the national kitty of GST has been 4.7 per cent," he had said.

The state's per capita GST collection stands at Rs 21,745, whereas the national per capita GST collection is Rs 9,370, he had said.

The collections under GST are made under four different Acts, namely, Haryana Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, and the Compensation to States Tax Act, 2017.

After the implementation of GST with effect from July 1, 2017, as many as 2,47,814 new taxpayers have been added to the pool of taxpayer base of 2,02,013 under VAT regime.

The total number of registered GST taxpayers in the state are at 4,49,827.
