Two more suicide cases reported in Dehradun

Two more suicide cases were reported on the weekend in which two women in separate locations hanged themselves to death.

In the first case reported in Vasant Vihar police station, a 35 year old married woman, who was suffering from depression hanged herself in her home. The woman was identified as Bhawana Thapa and was married for the last 15 years. She had two children and her husband works as a security guard at a bank in Gujarat. According to the police, prima facie it appears that she was suffering from depression and was taking treatment for it for the past three-four years.

The second case was reported in Dalanwala police station in which a 59 year old woman was found hanging from a tree near Sanskrit University at Pritam Road. The woman was identified as Basanti Devi and was presently living in Nehru Colony. According to the information provided by the police, she was suffering from depression and came to Dehradun in January for treatment. She called her husband Jagat Singh Thakur at about 2:15 in the night and said that she is about to commit suicide, after that she switched off the phone.
