Woman to actively participate in Yoga Day event in Ranchi

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to arrive in the State capital on June 20 for the International Yoga Day celebration on June 21, the entire city is busy gearing up for the same. The main event with the PM will be held at Prabhat Tara Maidan, Ranchi and the administration is leaving no stone turned to involve the yoga enthusiasts of the city for the same. A lot of emphasis is being given to women from all spheres to perform ‘asanas’ in the event.

From offering online as well as offline registrations, to making arrangements for school children taking part in the event, arranging 500 buses for the those participating, to security, availability of drinking water, public toilets  and appointing volunteers, the administration has it all covered.

“This event is open for all irrespective of age or gender. A lot of organizations in the city are encouraging women to be a part of the function. As of now about 4,000 women have already registered online to perform with the PM. Yoga as a practice is for everybody and we want all yoga enthusiasts to be a part of this gala event. Amenities like defined sectors, separate queues and toilets for men and women will be provided at the venue,” said the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rai Mahimapat Ray.

There are sectors with a capacity of 400 being made at the venue and a separate defined sector if being made for women.

The administration has received over 3,000 online registrations and more than 10,000 performs have registered offline from various institutions including 3,000 members of Sakhi Mandal and sahiyas from the health departments.

The women’s wing of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is also putting in a lot of efforts to involve the women folk of the State in this mega fete. “All the women workers from Ranchi will be there to do yoga with our PM on June 21 at the venue. Across the entire State also, there are registrations being done in all the districts and mandals where women are being encouraged to come and do yoga in a collective form. Women from all over Jharkhand are being urged to be part of this event with the PM in their respective districts and mandals,” said BJP Mahilla Morcha president, Aarti Singh.

People can register online till June 17 where as for offline registrations the various departments have been given a deadline of June 15.
