The two Mid-Wales hotels sold by Caernarfon mansion developers are now in administration.

Paul and Rowena Williams, who are developing Plas Glynllifon mansion near Caernarfon and own Seiont Manor in Llanrug, sold Powys hotels The Radnorshire Arms in Presteigne and The Knighton in Knighton this spring.

The company running the hotels - Leisure and Development Ltd - was bought by Keith Harvey Partridge's Coast2Coast brand.

But they were immediately closed - sparking fears about their future.

Police officers at Dyfed Powys and Trading Standards officials at Powys council met to discuss the situation in July and later announced: “We are assessing information with partners.”

Now Leisure and Development has gone into administration.

Previously Keith Partridge, director at Coast2Coast, claimed the reason for the delays to plans to revamp the sites had been because of the negative reaction in the area since their purchase of the hotels.

Administrators of Leisure & Development Ltd - RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP - has instructed Colliers International to market the two hotels.

Paul Williams said: "As we have said previously, we are very saddened that the hotels remain closed following the new owners decision to to re-brand and open them. This is largely due to him having had significant adverse publicity which has also forced the sale agreement to fall through.

"We are pleased that the hotels are now being marketed and hopefully will sell and re-open as quickly as possible."

Peter Brunt, a Hotels Director with Colliers International’s Hotels team, said the Radnorshire Arms has a distinctive black and white Tudor frontage and is thought to date from the 16 Century.

The Knighton Hotel is an attractive, Victorian property with 16 letting bedrooms and a function room for up to 200 people.

Paul and Rowena Williams are currently developing Plas Glynllifon near Caernarfon, with plans to transform it into a luxury hotel.

Mr Williams said they were making very good progress at Glynllifon with the second floor now complete and planning permission granted for external fabric repairs.

They had also agreed a deal to buy Plas Brereton and Plas Ty Goch in Caernarfon but this deal fell through after they failed to complete the purchase this September.
