A businessman found dead in a car parked outside a North Wales police station had a gunshot wound to the head.

Vernon Hough, 61, was found in the staff car park of the Police Divisional HQ on Davy Way in Llay, Thursday, May 21, at around 9.45am.

The Wrexham man was found slumped in the vehicle with a five barrel shotgun on his lap, an inquest heard yesterday.

Opening an inquest at Ruthin County Hall today, coroner for North Wales east and central, John Gittins, said Mr Hough, of Cefn y Bedd, Wrexham was formally identified by his friend Adam Williams.

A post mortem has taken place and the provisional cause of death a gun shot injury to the head.

A full inquest is set to take place at a later date.

The death of the director is not being treated as suspicious, police said at the time.
