A "multi-vehicle" crash on the A55 has sparked delays for motorists.

The collision has happened on the eastbound carriageway of the road at Abergwyngregyn and has led to one lane being closed to traffic.

Emergency services are on the scene.

The crash has happened in the same location as a collision earlier today in which a child was airlifted to hospital.

A55 shut eastbound after trailer detaches from vehicle and crashes - updates

The A55 has been closed in one direction after a trailer detached from a vehicle.

The eastbound carriageway has been shut at Llangefni in Anglesey after the trailer - which was carrying a minibus - came loose from the vehicle carrying it and crashed into the central barrier.

Police statement

Here is what police have said about the incident:

We were called at 11.20am to reports of a three-vehicle collision involving a VW Golf, a VW Polo and a Peugeot.

“The crash happened opposite the turning for Abergwyngregyn.”

They did not have any details about whether anybody had been hurt in the crash.

Ambulance service statement

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said:

“We were called on Wednesday 21 August at approximately 11.18am to reports of the A55 near Abergwyngregyn.

“We responded with two emergency ambulances. The incident is currently ongoing.”
