A man has today denied causing the death of a biker by careless driving.

John Abel, 69, appeared at Mold Crown Court this morning.

He is alleged to have caused the death of Michael Shelley by driving a Ford on the B5105 at Pont Petryal in Clocaenog Forest near Ruthin without due care and attention.

Abel, of Loughborough Road, Walton on the Wolds, Loughborough, pleaded not guilty and Judge Niclas Parry adjourned the case for trial, which will start on November 11.

An inquest opening into the death of Mr Shelley heard he was killed when his machine was involved in a collision with a rally car.

Michael Nolan Shelley, 48, an electrical engineer of Lance Lane in Liverpool, was certified dead at the scene of the crash on September 1 last year.
