Hundreds braved the wind and the rain this morning and took to the streets Anglesey to run in the island's annual half marathon race.

The event, now in its seventh year, challenges runners of all levels to navigate a 13 mile-route which takes in some of the island's spectacular scenery.

One of those taking part was  Gwyn Owen from Llanfairfechan who has entered the half marathon for the last three years.

And it was third time lucky for Gwyn this year as he crossed the finished line in first place.

Speaking after his victory, Gwyn said: "This is my third time running the Anglesey half marathon, I'm delighted to say I've won it for the first time today.

"Of course I was worried it was going to be really windy but to be fair conditions weren't too bad during the half marathon and it wasn't windy at all.

"We've had loads of support out there, it was a great great race!"

Alongside Gwyn was Ali Lavender from Oswestry who was the first lady to cross the line.
