Trains between Ayrshire and Glasgow are being affected as police deal with an incident near Girvan. 

Some services heading south of Ayr are either being cancelled or delayed. 

Those heading from Kilmarnock to Girvan could also be affected as the 8.01am and 9am services are at risk when they reach Ayr.

ScotRail confirmed the news on their Twitter account.

They said: “The police are dealing with an incident near the railway between Girvan and Stranraer, which is preventing services from running.

“We've arranged with Stagecoach for valid rail tickets and Smartcards to be accepted on their services

“If you're travelling between Ayr, Girvan or Stranraer, you can hop on Stagecoach route 58, 60, 358 or 360.

“Travelling to or from Maybole? You can use route 58 & 60.

“Customers travelling to/from Barrhill should contact us via the platform help point.”
