Six thugs jailed for a savage gangland murder plot have now been hit with crime orders to monitor them when they are freed from jail.

Brian Ferguson, 37, Andrew Gallacher, 40, Robert Pickett, 54, Andrew Sinclair, 32, John Hardie, 35, and Peter Bain, 45, returned to the High Court in Glasgow on Friday.

The gang were said to be part of the Lyons crime mob – long-time enemies of the Daniel clan in the north of the city.

Five men were ambushed during 15 months of horrific violence including ex-taxi firm boss Steven “ Bonzo ” Daniel.

The six were locked up for a total of 104 years last month.

Prosecutors then moved for them to be slapped with Serious Crime Prevention Orders (SCPO) after they were sentenced.

This can allow police to keep tabs on a criminal’s business dealings, communications and movement once they get out of jail.

Advocate depute Paul Kearney told a short hearing that agreement had been reached after talks with lawyers for the six.

Lord Mulholland – who presided over the 14 week trial – imposed a SCPO on each of them to run for five years from when they are eventually freed.

A ring of steel – involving extra police and armed officers – again surrounded the court building for the six appearing in the dock.
