Fiona Armstrong has been appointed the new Lord Lieutenant of Dumfriesshire.

The former ITV Lookaround presenter has taken over from Jean Tulloch who retired earlier this month after nine years.

The 59-year-old has worked as a presenter and reporter for both ITN and BBC News. She currently presents ITV Border’s Border Life and writes a column for a magazine and American-based newspaper Scotbanner.

She is the wife of Sir Malcolm MacGregor of MacGregor, a Scottish clan chief, and is now the 19th Lord Lieutenant of Dumfries.
