For all other households, bin collections will remain on their usual day.

The revised timetable for mainland and Cumbrae is; Tuesday, December 25, moved to Saturday, December 22, Wednesday, December 26, moved to Sunday, December 23, Tuesday, January 1, moved to Saturday, December 29, Wednesday, January 2, moved to Sunday, December 30.

Households will shortly receive a postcard detailing these arrangements along with information on the upcoming bin changes coming in April.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie said: “We have done our best to keep disruption to a minimum this festive period. But unfortunately, as Christmas and New Year falls mid-week this year, we have had to change a number of collections.

"We strongly advise all residents affected by these temporary measures to make a note of the changes and have their bins out for collection by 7am.”
