Locals are being urged to attend a community drop-in session next week to aid a depleting Perthshire school.

The School Estates Review is currently ongoing for Logierait Primary School and a community drop-in session will take place in Mid-Atholl Hall on Tuesday, November 27 between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.

Local Conservative councillor, John Duff, is encouraging all parents, local residents and businesses, and anyone with an interest in Logierait Primary School, to participate in the consultation process.

Cllr Duff said: “Logierait Primary School has been included in the review as a consequence of the low numbers of children attending the school, currently there are sixteen pupils.

“Numbers have been low over the last eight years and, projecting ahead, these numbers are predicted to rise slightly over the next three years but then fall back again.

“I am aware that there is a shortage of nursery provision and after school care for the area and the inclusion of these facilities as an option at Logierait Primary School would significantly improve its future viability.

“The school has the space and, as has been evidenced elsewhere in the area, having a nursery and wrap- around school care is likely to result in a steady increase in pupils attending the school.“

Logierait Primary School has been included in phase two of the School Estates Review alongside Pitlochry High School and Grandtully Primary School.

The drop in session for Logierait Primary School will also be a drop-in consultation for the phase two review of Pitlochry High School, as Logierait is a feeder primary for the high school.

A further drop-in session for Pitlochry High School will also take place on Thursday, December 6, at Blair Atholl Village Hall between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.
