Robbie Hutton will return to West Lothian later this year armed with some anthemic new material for his loyal fanbase.

Though he hails from Stirling, the singer-songwriter holds a dear affection for Bathgate and its surrounding area, having spent his youth playing dozens of gigs in the town.

He is confident of another rousing reception when he takes to the stage for a stripped-down set at the Purple Orange this week (Friday, March 29).

The show will serve as a bit of a warm-up gig as he then plays the Forthside Festival in Stirling, on May 3, before performing at Sing on the Bing in Pumpherston on May 25.

He also intends to play some new songs, including his latest track ‘Waves’.

The singer said: “I have played so many gigs in West Lothian over the years that it has become a bit of a second home. I’ve always been made to feel welcome – especially at the Purple Orange – and whenever I write and release something new, I always think of getting over there to play the tunes live for everyone.

“They’re great people. They’ve been great to me; and the gigs are always memorable.

“I hope they’ll like my new stuff and I’m sure both these shows will be terrific.

“I’d love to see some old faces come out and support me at Sing on the Bing and at the Purple Orange.”

Robbie’s new track was unveiled earlier this month, complete with an epic music video, set against the backdrop of rolling hilltops and hellish waves in Ayrshire.

The 25-year-old – also known for ‘Bed of Roses’ – teased further releases as he begins to gather momentum in the recording studio.

He added: “I feel like I’ve hit a bit of a rhythm recently and I can’t wait for people to hear what I’ve written over the last few months or so.

“‘Waves’ is a song about overthinking and being submerged in thought. I wanted to set an emotional tone with this song, both musically and lyrically, as I am conveying an emotive message, while at the same time packing a punch.

“It touches upon a subject that affects myself and a large chunk of the general population, so I feel it’s a song people can relate to while at the same time enjoy the hooks, which the song isn’t shy of.

“There has been a ton of work put into the song as well as the video, shot with Stuart Breadner from Shootback Productions.

“But it’s just the first of more to come. I’ve got plans for more singles in the near future, all with music videos as well. It’s going to be an exciting year.”
