Pupils at Simpson Primary School put their dancing shoes for a massive display of impressive moves.

The youngsters - led by Luca Cicero (5) - enjoyed a dance-a-thon to raise £747 for the STV Children’s Appeal.

Luca has been taking part in a kids version of Strictly Come Dancing for the appeal and was picked from 300 youngsters to take part in the final.

The event was organised by production company BlueStar Productions for all the pupils at the Wester Inch school.

Luca’s mum Carolanne said he thoroughly enjoyed the day and is looking forward to the glitzy final at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow in December.

She said: “The whole school took part and the nursery did their own one but the rest of the school came to hall in their year groups throughout the morning.

“It was from 9am to 12.15pm in half hour slots. Tracey the dance teacher taught them the jive and the Charleston and the kids taught her how to floss!

“It was great fun, a really good atmosphere. Luca stayed and danced for the full morning and the kids all seemed really proud of him.

“Luca is excited about the final, he only has two rehearsals to go before the big day.

“He isn’t nervous yet which I’m surprised at, he knows there will be 700 people watching but it’s just a number to him.”
