The family of a missing Glasgow pensioner last seen in Edinburgh are growing increasingly concerned for his safety.

James Gibson was reported missing from Gallowgate in Glasgow on Saturday, September 14.

The 66-year-old was last spotted in Couper Street in Edinburgh at around 2pm yesterday.

His family have said that this is ‘completely out of character for him’.

Now, Police Scotland have launched an appeal as his current whereabouts remains unknown.

James has been described s being a white male, 5ft 11ins with grey hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a hat, dark jacket, blue trousers, blue jumper and black trainers.

Inspector Peter Jones from Leith Police station said: “James has been missing for a number of hours now, this is completely out of character for him and his friends are understandably worried about it. We have a number of police resources out looking for James and I am now looking for the assistance from the public.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “If you believe you have seen James or have any information please contact 101 quoting incident no. 2178 of the September 14.”
