A 16-year-old girl has been found safe and well four days after she was reported missing.

Police thanked the public for their help in the search for Caitlin Cowie, who failed to return to her Stirling home after a trip to Glasgow last Thursday.

The teenager had been due to meet with friends in the city's Hope Street in the afternoon and concern grew for her welfare after she didn't come come home.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We can confirm that missing 16-year-old Caitlin Cowie has been found safe and well.

"We would like to thank everyone who shared and helped with our appeal."
