Summer is set to return to Scotland this weekend - yaldy!

Over the last few weeks the mercury has dropped with many Scots thinking the summer is already over.

But - it's not time to put on the hats and gloves because it's going to be a scorcher this weekend.

Forecasters from the Met Office are predicting that temperatures will rocket on Saturday to above 20C across the country.

Before we get to the weekend though there will be torrential rain which is expected to hit on Thursday.

Temperatures on Thursday in the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas will reach 17C, while further north in Aberdeen it will hit 18C.

However, by 1pm the rain will hit which will push the mercury down.

And in Edinburgh it will be 21C on Saturday and 20C on Sunday.

A Met Office statement read: "Outbreaks of rain, heavy rain and persistent through Argyll.
