A talented teen footballer has died after being found seriously ill at home.

Tragic Kerr Wilson passed away on Tuesday two days after being rushed to hospital from his home in Fairlie, Ayrshire. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

The 15-year-old played for Largs Thistle 2003 year group and was Kerr was also a prize-winning gymnast.

Largs Thistle shared a Facebook post announcing that training and games for the 2003 youth team are cancelled until further notice.

Largs Academy head teacher Heather Burns wrote to parents of all pupils to pass on the sad news of Kerr’s death and to lament the impact it has had on the school.

She wrote: “It is with great sadness that we are contacting you to advise you of the unexpected death of one of our pupils.

“Such an event has a big impact on our whole school community and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to be responsive to the needs of our young people and their families at this time.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a 15-year-old boy has died after being admitted to Crosshouse Hospital on Sunday, 24th March.

“Emergency services attended at an address in Fairlie, at 5pm on Sunday.

“The boy was taken to hospital and police were advised he had passed away.

“Inquiries are ongoing and a post mortem will be carried out in due course to ascertain the cause of death which is not being treated as suspicious.”
