The U23385 flight from Venice to Edinburgh made the emergency call shortly after midday as it flew into Scotland.

The plane was making the final descent towards Edinburgh when the pilot made a "7700" squawk alert – which means a general emergency.

Live data on FlightRadar24 then showed the Airbus A319 jet landing safely in the Scottish city.

The plane taxied to the stand as flights continued to land and take off from the airport.

EasyJet later confirmed to Daily Star Online that a member of crew had fallen ill.

The airline said in a statement: “EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY3385 from Venice to Edinburgh requested an expedited landing into Edinburgh due to a cabin crew member being taken unwell during landing.

“Paramedics met the aircraft on arrival and assisted.

The flight, U23385, had departed Italy nearly 20 minutes late but landed 10 minutes early after making the emergency call.
