This year has already witnessed snow, Storms Freya and Gareth, and a raft of flood warnings issued yesterday.

But warm weather is set to make a comeback in just a couple of days, especially in eastern parts of the UK.

John Hammond, chief meteorologist for Weathertrending, told The Sun Online: “There is a very low chance of somewhere hitting 20C - possibly most likely in London, East Anglia or Lincolnshire.

“But this will depend on prolonged sunshine, which is still uncertain.

BALMY: Warm Spring weather is set to make a comeback in a couple of days

“It will feel much warmer than recently because, at long last, the strong winds have finally relented.”

The Met Office forecasts spells of wind and rain from Wednesday to Friday in the north-west.

But other parts of the UK will see drier, more settled and warm conditions when sunshine breaks through.

Brian Gaze, forecaster and director of The Weather Outlook, predicts more seasonal weather this week.

ON ALERT: It comes after a series of flood warnings were issued

He said: “The weather during the coming days will be a lot more Spring-like than it was at the weekend.

“North western parts of the UK have further spells of rain at times but elsewhere it should become mainly dry.”

Meteorologist Marco Petagna added: “We’ve got some big changes in store weather wise across the week ahead, certainly across southern and eastern parts high pressure building to give plenty of settled weather.

“In the sunshine temperatures doing quite well, we could see 18 possibly 19 degrees across some southern and eastern parts of the UK by the time we get to Thursday.”

Homes in parts of Wales were flooded yesterday as the blustery conditions blew showers "heavy and thundery with hail and sleet" across Wales and northern Scotland.

The heaviest rain fell in Capel Curig in Caernarfonshire, Wales, which saw 5.4 inches fall in just 24 hours – a month’s worth of rain.

It comes after one hundred snowplows and 1,000 gritters were put on standby yesterday for icy conditions.
