The German was sent out on loan to the Turkish side last summer after Jurgen Klopp signed Alisson for £67m from Roma.

The Brazil No.1 was made a priority as a result of Karius’ mistakes in the Champions League final where he made two howlers against Real Madrid.

But life for the former Mainz star has not improved in Turkey, with Besiktas desperate to send him back.

The 25-year-old has made a string of mistakes in Istanbul and was blamed for their Europa League exit from the group stage.

But Starsport understands there is no clause in his deal that means a loan can be cut short.

Liverpool sent Karius out on loan for £2.25m with the view to a permanent deal worth £7.25m in the summer of 2020.

But if he lasts that long at the BJK Vodafone Park remains a mystery, with the Reds reluctant to bring him back.

In his absence, Liverpool have seen their defence improve wildly.

The Anfield outfit has kept 17 clean sheets in 32 Premier League matches, conceding just 18.

And the 26-year-old has lavished praise on Klopp for the way he treats his players.

"He's a great guy, a good guy I think in the way he deals with everyone," Alisson said.

"He treats us I think like his own sons and he treats everyone in the dressing room as equals, the staff and everyone.

“This is what makes him a special person for us.

"He's a funny guy, but on the pitch when it is the time to work he's a serious and passionate guy for football.

“He gives his passion for me and my team-mates in the game so this is very good."
