Teen killed, 4 others from Garland injured in car crash near Austin

A Garland teenager was killed in a deadly rollover crash near Austin on Wednesday, police said.

The teen was one of five from Garland traveling in a car around 10:30 a.m. on State Highway 130 in Georgetown, about 28 miles north of Austin. Three were ejected, including the boy who died, according to Austin television station Fox7.

Georgetown police said the driver lost control after trying to avoid another vehicle by changing lanes, KXAS-TV (Channel 5) reported.

The vehicle ended up upside-down in a ditch on the opposite side of an access road, the station reported.

The car's speed was estimated as high as 100 mph, police told Austin television station KXAN.

The two remaining teens were pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extracted, police said. The four survivors were taken to area hospitals, where their conditions are not known.
