Hyderabad: Two children aged seven and eight years drowned in water that had accumulated in an under-construction septic tank in Ibrahimpur in Parigi mandal of Vikarabad district on Friday. The children were playing when they slipped into the pit that was being constructed at their house.
The Parigi police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed over the bodies to the family after the postmortem at a government hospital. Parigi deputy superintendent of police B. Ravinder Reddy said that the incident occurred on Friday morning when Syed Nabeen, eight, and Syed Ayan, seven, cousins, were playing at Nabeen’s house. “A pit was dug to construct a septic tank in Nabeen’s house as they had received a subsidy from the government to construct a toilet,” he said.
