Turning Point, a New Jersey-based breakfast and lunch restaurant, has made its way to Delaware.

Offering a wide selection of pancakes, waffles, omelets and sandwiches, Turning Point's first Delaware location opened at the end of May next to Honeygrow in the Christiana Fashion Center, just south of the Christiana Mall.

"The word is definitely getting out," assistant manager Kristen McKeown said. "We are on a wait every Saturday and Sunday."

Turning Point offers a variety of pancakes, waffles and omelets. It opened last month in the Christiana Fashion Center.

The pancake flavors include cinnamon roll, bourbon walnut banana and lemon blueberry. The flight of pancakes, which goes for $10.25, allows customers to try three different types.

The bacon lollipop appetizer is a "head-turner," according to McKeown. For $6.95 customers can start their meal with thick brown sugar coated bacon wrapped around an apple wedge.

The restaurant is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. Owner Kirk Ruoff says he and his employees "work to live" as opposed to living to work, and therefore he wants them to be home with family at dinner.

McKeown says the restaurant is busiest during brunch hours, from about 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It will compete against two nearby full table-service breakfast restaurants — Firstwatch off Churchmans Road and Eggspectation, which will open in early July off Stanton-Christiana Road

Turning Point opened at the end of May next to Honeygrow in the Christiana Fashion Center.

McKeown said that Turning Point's French press coffee is one of the restaurant's most unique offerings. Blends offered include Hawaiian kona, Jamaica blue mountain, Kenyan AA pure and Costa Rican pure.

The French press coffees run from $5.75 to $8.99.

Turning Point started in 1998 in Little Silver, New Jersey. It has since expanded to 18 locations — 12 in New Jersey, five in Pennsylvania and one in Delaware.
