As snow continues to blanket Delaware, schools announce early dismissals

With much more snow than originally predicted now covering the ground and making roadways treacherous, Delaware schools are beginning to dismiss students early. 

Luckily, there were no big high school sporting events tonight.

Here are the school districts that have made announcements so far: 

Brandywine School District

All students and staff will be dismissed one hour early. Brandywine High School was dismissed at 10 a.m. after part of Foulk Road was closed and the power went out. 

There will be no afternoon preschool at Bush. 

Appoquinimink School District

Afternoon pre-K is canceled.  

Charter School of New Castle

The middle school will close at 2:15 p.m., and the elementary school will close at 3 p.m. 

Christina School District

All after-school and evening activities are canceled. All Adult Education, Groves Adult High School and Distance Learning classes are canceled.

Colonial School District

All secondary schools will dismiss at 1:15 p.m. All elementary schools will dismiss at 2:15 p.m. 

EastSide Charter School

The school will close at 2 p.m. 

Edison Charter School

TECS will be closing at 1 p.m. All after-school activities including math night are canceled. Math night will be rescheduled for a later date.

Freire Charter School

All after-school activities are canceled. 

Odyssey Charter School

All after-school activities have been canceled, including tonight's open house. Students will dismiss via their normal manner. After-care students should be picked up as soon as possible, but no later than 5 p.m.

Providence Creek Academy Charter School 

Providence Creek Academy will dismiss at 2 p.m. All after-school activities are canceled. No after-care will be available.

Red Clay Consolidated School District 

Red Clay schools will dismiss at normal times. All after-school activities are canceled. 
The Conrad Schools of Science Middle School Choice Open House scheduled for this evening has been rescheduled for Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. The Conrad Middle School Open House will be combined with the Conrad High School Open House on that date.

University of Delaware

The campus closed at 2:30 p.m.
