A Lincoln man held his girlfriend and 1-year-old son captive for several hours Sunday, leaving her with cuts but the child unharmed, Delaware State Police said.

Police responded Sunday to a call for a domestic incident at a home in the 8700 block of West Clogg Drive.

When they arrived, a woman fled the home, police said.

Police did not say who made the call.

The woman told officers that her boyfriend, Emmanuel Vazquez-Gomez, 32, was armed with a knife inside the home with their 1-year-old.

Police said Vazquez-Gomez threatened the woman and held her and the baby most of the day. Troopers tried to have the man leave the home and he refused at first, before later surrendering. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The woman suffered several cuts and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police charged Vazquez-Gomez with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of first-degree assault and other charges.

He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $157,000 secured bond.
