Dover detectives are trying to find the crime scene where a 17-year-old was shot early Wednesday morning.

At about 2:45 a.m., the victim showed up, by private car, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower leg, Dover Police Department Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

The victim told police he was shot outside a home in the 200 block of West Division St., but when detectives went to the area, they found no evidence of a crime scene anywhere nearby.

There also weren't any reports of shots fired, Hoffman said, and the victim provided no suspect information, possible motive or any witness information regarding the shooting.

Detectives are continuing to search for the crime scene and ask anyone with information to contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7130.

Tips can also be submitted through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com. A cash reward of up to $1,000 is possible for information leading to an arrest.
