Separate Dover shootings leave one man struck and homes hit

A 20-year-old man was shot in Dover Sunday night. Police there are looking for his shooters. Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cecil Street and North Governors Avenue.

The victim, who went to Kent General Hospital by private vehicle, told police that he was walking on the street when two masked gunmen got out of a car and fired several shots at him. Bullets struck him in one of his legs. The man was able to flee on foot after being shot. Police said that his injury was not life-threatening.

Several homes were struck by gunfire hours later in a separate incident. Hoffman said early Monday morning, before 1 a.m. officers responded to the 800 block of Woodcrest Turn for reports of shots fired. No injuries were reported, but six homes were hit by gunfire.
