Police investigating gunfire exchange at Concord Pike motel

Delaware State Police officers responded to the Days Inn on Concord Pike around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after someone heard gunshots and called in a report.

There, at the motel just south of the Pennsylvania state line, police said they found 12 shell casings.

An hour after police responded, officers were still combing the area around the hotel for more information, including on Washington Avenue next to the hotel.

State police investigate an apparent shooting incident  Wednesday evening at the Days Inn hotel on Concord Pike near the Pennsylvania state line.

Thursday, police said the investigation revealed that a Black male suspect and three other unknown suspects exchanged gunfire at one another in the south parking lot of the motel.

Police said the Black male suspect ran back into a motel room and then exited quickly before fleeing the scene in black Chrysler 300. The three unknown suspects fled the scene on foot, police said.

There are no reported injuries from the incident.

Surveillance images were not available, police said.
