Delaware Online Athlete of the Week nominees for Week 12 of the winter season

Help decide which performance was the best in Delaware high school sports last week. Vote for the Delaware Online High School Athlete of the Week, with the winner to be announced Friday. Voting is free. Here are this week’s nominees:

Zach Coffing, Newark boys swimming: Senior won the 100 freestyle (48.96) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.58) at the Blue Hen Conference meet.

Justin Griffith, Sanford wrestling: Eighth-grader pinned his way through the Independent Schools Qualifying Tournament, winning the 132-pound title and being named the meet’s Outstanding Wrestler while running his record to 27-0.

Michael McCants, St. Georges boys basketball: Senior had 14 points and 13 rebounds in a 67-48 win over Middletown, 13 points and 14 rebounds in a 77-49 win over Concord and 19 points and 15 rebounds in a 73-44 victory over Cape Henlopen.

Jack Sieffert, Andrew Avila, Aurelius Bordick and Chris Brown, Charter of Wilmington indoor track: Foursome set a state record of 7:58.19 in the boys 4x800 relay on Friday night at the North Shore Pre-National Invitational in New York.

Madison Stewart, Archmere girls basketball: Junior had 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals in a 55-46 loss to St. Elizabeth, then added 16 points, six rebounds and three steals in a 58-42 win over Charter of Wilmington.

Rylee Waslyn, Concord girls swimming: Freshman won the 100 butterfly (59.01) and 500 freestyle (5:13.73) at the Blue Hen Conference meet.
