A fatal crash involving a motorcycle is being investigated by the Delaware State Police.

The incident occurred at 11:23 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, on Cedar Creek Road in the area of Heritage Road in Lincoln, police said.

A 2017 Kawasaki 1000cc motorcycle, operated by a 28-year-old Millsboro man, was traveling southbound on Cedar Creek Road, just south of Heritage Road, when the driver failed to negotiate a left curve in the road. As a result the Kawasaki traveled off the west edge of the road with its left side striking a mailbox causing it to overturn on to its left side. The operator was ejected from the motorcycle, coming to rest in a grassy area off the west side of the road, according to a news release.

The operator was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Speed is being considered as a contributing factor in the crash, impairment is undetermined at this time, police said.

Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Cpl. K. Argo of the Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit by calling 302-703-3264.
