Remington's Restaurant in North Winton Village neighborhood closes. Here's what's taking its place.

Remington's Restaurant, a longtime eatery in Rochester's North Winton Village neighborhood, has closed and a new restaurant is renovating the site to take its place.

The owners of the popular Lucca Wood-Fire Bistro in Victor, Ontario County, will open Lucca Kitchen & Cocktails in the space at 425 Merchants Road. The owners, Jenny and Matthew Gervasi, expect to open later this summer, within two to three months.

Jenny Gervasi said the new eatery will be an Italian-American style bistro, with a different menu than the one served at the couple's Victor restaurant. Lucca Kitchen & Cocktails will not serve wood fired pizza but will offer a variety of vegan and gluten-free items, she said.

Remington's Restaurant on Merchants Road has closed.

The new restaurant will serve dinner and Sunday brunch, as well as desserts from Scratch Bakeshop, according to the North Winton Village Association.

According to city records, Lucca Kitchen & Cocktails has applied for a liquor license for 425 Merchants Road.

Located at the corner of Merchants Road and Akron Street, Remington's was a mainstay in the neighborhood for more than three decades before it closed earlier this month. The upscale eatery was styled after an English-style hunt club.

Currently, brown paper covers the windows of two-story brick building. Jenny Gervasi said the restaurant will be updated before it can reopen as Lucca Kitchen.
