Funeral services have been set for the Albion High School senior killed in a car crash Tuesday morning.

Calling hours will be held for Brennan Moody, 17, of Kent from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Ave. Albion, Orleans County. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Albion First Presbyterian Church, 29 E State St., Albion.

Moody, a popular, friendly student who was active in Albion High School's music and drama departments, was one of four young men in a sedan that went off the east shoulder of Eagle Harbor Road in Albion around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to New York State Police. The car went into a ditch before becoming airborne and striking a utility pole with the car's roof. Moody died at the scene.

One other teen, a 17-year-old Albion High School senior, remained hospitalized with "very serious injuries," troopers said. Two other teens, also seniors, also suffered minor injuries in the crash. Police have not identified the other teens and continue to investigate the crash.

Moody was active in the district's music program, as a member of the school chorus, marching band, concert band and jazz ensembles and flourished in stage in school drama productions, including as a cast member in Albion High's spring musical Into the Woods.

Like his father, Moody played the trumpet. He also sang in the school's men's mixed and select choir.

"Brennan was a kid with a heart of gold," said Albion Central School District Superintendent Michael Bonnewell. He would go out of his way to help others.

According to his obituary, Moody was a Boy Scout, studied Kung Fu, took voice and guitar lessons and worked part-time at a local McDonald's. He also had a small computer business in which he would rebuild and repair computers.

He loved to read, sing and collect classic guitars and amps.

Moody was survived by his parents Erin and Rhiannon Moody, brother Jackson and numerous other relatives and friends.

The crash occurred just hours after the final day of classes for high school students. Albion High School's class of 2019 is set to graduate June 28 in the high school gym. The district has about 1,850 students overall, with 155 in the senior class.

The district has not yet discussed with seniors how Moody will be honored at next week's commencement ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be directed to establish a scholarship in Moody's name.  Details on that were not yet available.
